The first title of the season in France was to be played between Paris Sain-Germain and Monaco in early August, but as of today it is not known where or when it will be played. The match was originally scheduled for August 10th, but the LPF issued a statement announcing that it had been postponed.
"The match cannot finally be held in Beijing. It is postponed to a later date and at a location yet to be determined," the organization assured the teams involved in that message. Thus, by schedule, it was no longer the first competition to be played in French football. Several alternatives and offers have emerged.
Initially, it was to be held in Beijing as part of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China. The documentation was slow to arrive and the LFP took the decision to suspend the event. The Asian country had already hosted the 2014, 2018 and 2019 editions.
The African continent has been in the running to host the match. Côte d'Ivoire are aiming for the match to be played at the Olympic Stadium in Ebimpe, while the Democratic Republic of Congo, in their case, are aiming for the same in Kinshasa, with the Pentecost Martyrs Stadium. For the moment, the LFP has not made any statement. Little information and much uncertainty surround this edition of the French Super Cup.
