'AS' revealed a curious history between Getafe's Brazilian footballer Kenedy, and Leo Messi. The Argentine chose the Brazilian, then a young promise, to promote a line of Adidas brand boots.
Messi had to select ten promises of less than 20 years-old to wear their same boots during the 2015-16 season and the Brazilian, who was at Chelsea, was one of the chosen.
As well as Kenedy, Messi also chose: Cornet, of Olympique Lyon; Boga, from Rennes; Shelton of New York City; Werner of Stuttgart; Wilson of Manchester United; Zardes, of the LA Galaxy; Miranchuk, from Lokomotiv; Rony Lopes of Monaco; and Bentivegna, from Como.
While Messi, injured, could not play against Getafe, Kenedy had 45 minutes against Barcelona, as he entered the second half, although he was not able to have any impact on the game.
