Leicester came away victorious in what was a thrilling game at the King Power stadium. Tottenham Hotspur were the visitors in Saturday's early kick-off clash and were looking to get the three points, but Leicester came out fighting towards the end and stole the lead away from Spurs. Only goal difference separated these two sides after five league matches. A game that was full of England players past, present and future, with Gareth Southgate watching from the stands.
Right from the blow of the whistle this was a very even game, with both teams looking to find a goal early on and putting pressure on the other team. The first goal game in the 15th minute, as Leicester got the scoring underway. The ball came in from the corner and Tielemans had a shot after Spurs cleared the ball. Gazinga made a mistake as he dropped the ball from the save, there was a scuffle near the goal line and Ndidi eventually put it in the back of the net. However, celebrations were cut short. The goal was VAR checked and disallowed after Ayoze was deemed offside.
The game was all level again at this point, until the second goal in the 28th minute after Tottenham pressed and pressed. What a finish by Harry Kane who was pushed in the box and on his way down, he still managed to control the ball, maintain his balance and kick it with his left foot into the top corner. What skill as he managed to finish that even when he was tested and going down. 5th goal of the season for Harry Kane.
The half time whistle blew after Tottenham tried to make it two, Leicester lost a bit of their motivation and weren't the same after this. Half time was a good time for Brendan Rogers to motivate his team for the second half. Tottenham would go away happy with their performance and to be in the lead.
Tottenham's second goal came in the 63rd minute, in what was a vital goal for them. Kane played a good ball to Aurier across the box, Aurier just slotted it in the bottom corner from the edge of the box. However, there was a VAR check to see if the original ball through to Son was deemed offside and the goal was disallowed. 1-0.
Only 6 minutes later, Leicester got the equaliser after a Vardy cross through to Ricardo from the left side of the box, Ricardo received the ball at the right and put it in the net coolly, Leicester deservedly got an equaliser and the game got very interesting from this point on as both teams looked to get the winner.
This goal gave Leicester a lot more drive and motivation and they started to look a real threat, always pestering for another goal. Chance after chance was had by both sides from this point on, in what was a very even game.
Leicester's winner came in the 84th minute. A brilliant cross in from new substitute Choudhury, saw Maddison slot the ball in the back of the net and give Leicester the lead. Maddison controlled the ball well and confidently put it away. The stadium was buzzing at this point and Tottenham left stunned again.
Full time at the King Power stadium saw Leicester steal the 3 points in what was a thrilling game of football from start to finish. Tottenham and Pochettino will go away frustrated to have thrown away another lead and another 3 points. Leicester and Brendan Rogers will be ecstatic with their win and their performance, which takes them even further up the Premier League table. Gareth Southgate would have been very happy with what he saw in the game.
