Leeds United made the trip to the Olympic Stadium to take on West Ham, a team who are determined to make the Champions League. It was not at all easy for Bielsa's men and to make things worse, they suffered injuries.
The visitors lost two players to injuries after the midway point of the first period. First, Forshaw went to ground and the team's medics went to attend to him.
He was unable to continue and Bate came on for him. He is a 19 year-old midfielder he was making his Premier League debut. It was his second first team appearance after playing against the same opponents last week in the FA Cup.
That was not the only injury problem Leeds had though. Junior Firpo, who was not 100% when Forshaw was down injured, asked for the change himself two minutes later in the 24th minute.
Leo Hjelde came on for him. He is an 18 year-old full-back and he was also making his Premier League debut. Just like Bate, his first team debut came against West Ham in the FA Cup last week.
Situations like these explain why Leeds are flirting with relegation this season. Losing two players to injury is undoubtedly a problem, but the really worrying thing for Bielsa is having to resort to young players to replace those who get injured.
