Robin Le Normand, who is one of Atletico Madrid's new signings, said he is "really looking forward to competing" in his new team's shirt and praised the figure of coach Diego Pablo Simeone.
"As a footballer he was a legend and as a coach he has shown his quality and the level he has. I'm really looking forward to learning from him and representing the shirt well," the defender said in a video released by the club where he stressed that his signing is "something very important" in his life and career.
The 27-year-old, who signed for Atletico for the next five seasons for 34.5 million euros plus five million euros in variables, did not travel to Hong Kong for the friendly against Kitchee and remained in Madrid training on his own.
"The stadium is impressive and you can feel the fans and, as a player, it's very important because they cheer you on. They have a lot of passion, they like people to fight until the end and that goes very well with my values," he added. "We have an incredible squad with very good players and we have to compete to fight for the titles."
