This EURO 2020 qualifier game sure did excite a lot of people towards the end, as Spain and Norway battled it out in Group F. Norway have a remarkable home run at the stadium in Oslo, as they are unbeaten there in over three years! Spain were looking to change that.
The game also marked a historic night for Sergio Ramos as he became the most capped player for Spain, having played 168 games.
Norway got the game underway and were immediately put under pressure from Spain, who started off the better of the two sides. No real chances were created in the first 15 minutes of the game, with both sides looking a little lacklustre.
Norway had the first real shot at goal of the whole game, 20 minutes in! They had some good play, as King ran up the pitch, crossed the ball into the box, which was then cleared away, Elabdellaoui's cross saw King get his head on it, but the ball went straight to the keeper and Kepa managed to deal with it.
Norway were forced to make an early sub just inside the first 30 minutes of the game, as Nordtveit picked up an injury early on and clearly still felt the injury as he went down and could not continue. His 52nd cap was not going to be that memorable! Hovland was his replacement.
Half time drew it and it remained goalless! Norway did enough to prove that they can give Spain a game as they came into the game more towards the end of the second half and Spain looked switched off at times, which could prove fatal in the second half of the game!
The second half was where all the action happened in the game! Spain got the scoring underway in the first minute of the second half, as Norway's resistence was broken and what a fabulous start for Spain as Bernat put in a great ball for Saul, who hit the target from the edge of the box, got the dip and the ball went into the back of the net! Norway switched off and paid the price for it!
After this, Spain looked the better of the two sides and looked in the mood for this game and Norway found themselves in trouble getting back into it!!
After a lot of substitutions from both sides, Norway came alive at the end of the second half and fought and fought to try and get something out of the game. This luck came in the 3rd minute of 4 minutes stoppage time.
Norway earned themselves a stoppage time penalty, as Kepa came out of his box and fouled Elabdellaoui as he made no contact with the ball, no advantage was given as King missed the shot and Norway had a chance to make it level! Joshua King toook the penalty, and coolly slotted it into the back of the net! Norway sealed themselves a point and Spain dropped their first points of this campaign.
Sudden, late action saw Norway take a point away from this game as Spain committed a penalty in the 3rd minute of added time. Spain far from their best and Norway fought it out until the end, a well deserved point for Norway!
