Although Barca were unable to claim victory on Wednesday in Riyadh against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup, Barca showed that, at least with Xavi Hernandez in charge, they have more than enough reasons to be excited about the future.
The Catalans put in a great performance against the bitter rivals and were many times on the back foot and they often struggled to hurt Barca's defence. Nevertheless, Reak Madrid's clinical finishing was the difference: Fede Valverde finished off a textbook counter to make it 2-3.
Barca president Joan Laporta, far from being disappointed after 'El Clasico', decided to go down to his team's dressing room after the clash to tell him players how important their attitude was.
"We have to be proud to play for Barca, more than ever before. The game you've played was incredible, showing who you are from start to finish," Laporta said in the video which was published on the club's social media channels.
He also praised Xavi as a coach: "All us Barca fans are very proud. Thanks to everyone, this is the path, gaffer. Now we just need to start winning and I'm sure we're going to do that."
