The news broke just hours after comments by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG president, that sent a strong message to his star players: "They'll have to do more, work more. They are not here to please themselves. And if they don't agree, the door is open," he told France Football. Without naming names, his words are directed towards Neymar, Mbappé and co.
The report by 'L'Équipe' suggests that PSG have taken the decision to let the Brazilian go if a satisfactory offer arrives for him. Neymar arrived in Paris for 222 million Euros in 2017, making him the most expensive signing in history, and they will hope to recoup a large amount of this fee if he does leave this summer.
The French press are also reporting that, having not accomplished what he wants to from a sporting perspective, Neymar wants to leave the French capital. Although he has won two straight Ligue 1 titles with PSG, a Champions League crown with the French side has eluded him.
'L'Équipe' point to Barcelona as Neymar's preferred destination, suggesting that his agent Pini Zahavi is already working to prepare his return to Camp Nou. The Brazilian journalist who was the first to break the news of his move to France two summers ago also reported weeks ago that the forward wants a move back to the Spanish champions.
