Kvist was taken off the pitch in his side´s 1-0 win over Peru on a stretcher, and it was feared that the player's World Cup could be over with the injury believed to have severely affected one of his lungs.
Despite the injury initially looking very serious, the midfielder went through a variety of tests which revealed that his lung had not been as badly damaged as had been thought.
Even though he escaped any damage to his lung, the FC Copenhagen player still suffered some broken ribs, which means that he is unlikely to be able to start the match against France, the Danish coach Age Hareide told 'TV2' in Denmark. It is expected that Lasse Schone will come in to the side to replace Kvist in the centre of the park.
Their final group match in Moscow is likely to be the Danes´stiffest test to date, as the French are pipped to be one of the favourites to win the tournament, despite disappointing performances at times in the tournament up to now.
Denmark will secure their place in the last 16 should Australia fail to beat Peru regardless of their result against ´Les Bleus´, but a shock win would take them to the top of Group C.
