Kroos reacts to Gundogan's imminent departure from Barcelona

After just one season at Barcelona, Ilkay Gundogan is on the verge of leaving the club because Hansi Flick will not provide him with a particularly important role this season. The board, in order to facilitate his departure and lighten his wage bill, has agreed to let him leave as a free agent despite the fact that he has one year left on his contract, something that has caught the attention of Toni Kroos.

The former Real Madrid player tends to be quite vocal both on his social networks and on the podcast he stars in with his brother about what's going on in the world of football. He already wrote “shameful” in the publication with which Fabrizio Romano announced the signing of Gabri Veiga by Al Ahli and, on Tuesday, he reacted to the news that his compatriot was going to say goodbye to the 'Cules' as a free agent.

“WOW,” he shared alongside three emojis of a monkey covering his face. Although the interpretations of this expression have been disparate, it is not possible to say one in particular because the only one who knows his intentions is the German, who may be surprised either by the promptness with which Joan Laporta's board has given the green light to get rid of the former Manchester City player or by the agreed form.

Kroos has shared the field with Gundogan in 35 appearances for the German national team, from which the still-arriving 'Cule' has just retired. As opponents, they have met on 17 occasions. The first one took place on March 7th, 2010, when the 'Merengue' idol was playing for Bayer Leverkusen and the 'Cule' was part of the Nurnberg squad. The most recent is the second domestic 'El Clasico' of Liga 23-24.
