Klopp set to become the new Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull

Jurgen Klopp could be away from the world of football for far less time than he had predicted. The former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool coach, who left the Reds just a few months ago and hinted at a possible retirement on the bench, could return to the sport just half a year later, although to be Global Head of Football of a group as powerful as Red Bull.

'Sport Bild' reported on Wednesday that the official confirmation of the deal could come in a matter of hours. According to the source, his new position would be far from the pressure of the dugout and would allow Klopp to bring his global vision to increase the success of the teams that are part of Red Bull.

The first team that comes to mind is RB Leipzig, a team that has been at a high level for several years now, but has yet to make the leap to fight on a level playing field with Europe's elite. In addition, Red Bull also has Salzburg, Leeds United, New York Red Bulls, RB Bragantino and Omiya Ardija in its portfolio.

According to ‘Sport Bild’, it was Oliver Mintzlaff, who is responsible for all the company's sporting projects, who has decided to invest in Jurgen Klopp in his capacity as CEO of Red Bull's sports divisions. The former Liverpool coach would bring specialist knowledge, experience, contacts and charisma. He would become a mix of strategist, analyst and consultant on transfer and coaching matters, making him the cornerstone of the development of these clubs.

Although this position would keep him away from the pitch, the concept at Red Bull is that if any of the coaches in the group need advice, they can turn to Klopp to make the best decision.

For now, both Klopp's entourage and Red Bull itself have declined to comment on the matter, although there is speculation in Germany that this information could become official in a matter of days. In any case, the former coach would not take up his new post until 1st January.
