Key meeting for Ilaix's future

After dazzling last season with his spectacular emergence into the first team, Ilaix Moriba has become a problem for Barcelona, who are living on the edge of the abyss in the financial department.

The young midfielder is demanding a huge salary increase in order to renew his contract with the club and the club presided over by Joan Laporta is not prepared to give in to what it considers to be excessive financial demands.

With this, the continuity of Ilaix in the Catalan capital seems to be up in the air, although this Monday 26th of July seems to be a key day to solve the future of the homegrown.

As reported by 'Sport', the club's board will meet on Monday with the player's agents to try to reach a renewal agreement that will satisfy both sides.

Stalled for days and damaged by the sporting 'punishments' to Ilaix, the negotiations are expected to be very complicated. Barca seem willing to raise their offer, but always within the limitations.

One way or another, the Camp Nou team is not willing to fully cover the salary demands of the player's agents, as they consider that the salary they are asking for him is that of a real top player, a status that Ilaix has not earned yet.

Barca will initially offer the homegrown player a five-year contract, which would keep him at the club until 2026 in the case of signing. If no agreement is reached, Ilaix could be on the exit ramp.
