The Chelsea player joined Newcastle on a 6 month loan in January 2018, and went on to make 13 appearances for the club as he helped them avoid the relegation zone and finish 10th in the Premier League.
Fans of the 'Magpies' were very impressed with the Brazilian during his games in that period, and were calling for a permanent transfer to be made. However, it seemed as though Chelsea would value the player at a much higher price than Newcastle would be willing to pay, so a loan move was the more realistic option.
Kenedy joined the 'Blues' in 2015 from Fluminese, but has failed to establish himself in the team and has only made 15 appearances for them.
It has been reported that clubs such as PSG and Bayern Munich were interested in the player due to his lack of game time at Stamford Bridge, but Kenedy enjoyed his time playing for Rafa Benitez and would be happy to return to Tyneside for next season.
With Chelsea on the brink of confirming Maurizio Sarri as their new manager, it is unlikely that this deal will get over the line until that announcement has come.
Newcastle players have already reported back for the beginning of their preseason training, and Benitez will be keen to get this loan move sorted as quickly as possible.
