Kane refuses to lift trophy at Tottenham ground after hugging Son

Harry Kane was linked with Tottenham Hotspur for his entire career until last summer when he signed for Bayern Munich in a €100 million transfer.

A year later, he returned to the stadium where he enjoyed the best moments of his career to play in the Visit Malta Trophy, the prize of a friendly match between his former team and his current club. Thanks to his visit, his fans could see that the affection that unites them has lost nothing.

The Englishman came on for the final 10 minutes. He did not have to spend too much time on the pitch because he was coming back from his holidays after reaching the final of Euro 2024, which he lost against the Spanish national team.

The striker was wearing the captain's armband at the end of the game. It is quite likely that a teammate gave it to him as a tribute as he was on the pitch where he had spent most of his career, but he refused to hold it himself when it was time to celebrate the trophy, although he was with the rest of the team in the celebration.

Throughout the game and before the match, he could be seen hugging former teammate Heung-min Son. He also gave a round of applause to the fans, who gave him a standing ovation to make it clear that they appreciate his work with the shirt he left behind after 435 appearances, 280 goals and countless memorable moments that will always miss a well-deserved title.
