Another evenly matched semi-final. Another semi-final that went to extra time with 1-1 on the scoreboard. However, the English struck the first blow in extra time. Kane put England ahead thanks to a controversial penalty on Sterling.
Raheem Sterling then produced a sensational move. He cut inside, cut in behind his marker and reached the Danish box, only to be brought down in the area by Maehle.
The referee, Danny Makkelie of the Netherlands, pointed to the spot without hesitation, despite Denmark's protests. And the VAR confirmed it was a penalty.
Lots will be written if England go through after this harsh penalty, but even VAR did not save Denmark. The penalty was to be taken, and Harry Kane took the responsibility.
He picked up the ball, took a run and shot to his right, to the left of Kasper Schmeichel who guessed his intentions. But he couldn't catch the ball, only save it, and there was still a loose ball in the box.

Kane himself tapped home the rebound. England took the lead late in the first half of extra time.
It was not just another goal, it was the goal that made him England's top scorer in major tournaments (World Cup and Euros), equalling Gary Lineker's ten goals in his time. Will he overtake him before the end of this tournament?
