Juventus legend Bonucci to retire next season

The end of an era in Italian football is approaching. Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci will hang up his boots at the end of the 2023-24 season in 13 months' time.

It has been the 'Bianconeri' player himself who has given the date of his retirement. He did so in an interview with the official Juventus media, on the occasion of his 500th match.

"When I stop playing next year, it will be the end of a defensive era, a way of defending the Italian style," the 'Bianconeri' defender confessed about his future plans.

"It's a source of pride to be up there with the greats. I hope that many future defenders will see us as the four idols: Baresi, Madini, Nesta and Cannavaro," he added.

Bonucci still has one more season to continue to add to his Juventus legend. From then on, a new era will begin.
