Junior joined Barca in 2019 for 18 million euros, where he will now leave for Leeds United for 15. From that sum, 15% will go to his former club, Real Betis.
When Betis sold Junior to the Catalan side, they agreed to be paid 15% on any future sale of his. Without a doubt, they thought that the player would go on to reach his full potential at his new club.
Unfortunately, that's not quite how it turned out for the Brazilian. He hasn't been able to jell with the team and, in addition, the financial crisis imposed by the coronavirus has driven his market value down.
As a result, Junior, who arrived as a wing-back for whom Barcelona could have asked 30 million - for his age, quality and potential - will now leave the club for half of that.
What's more, two-and-a-half million of that will be going into the accounts of Real Betis. It's certainly not the amount they were expecting, but in the end they have still managed to got over 20 million for Junior.
