Jordi Cruyff, born in Amsterdam in 1974, also managed Cypriot side AEK Larnaca from 2010 to 2012. Now, at the age of 44, he faces the prospect of a new adventure in China.
Cruyff is the son of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, regarded as one of the greatest players in football history.
Antonio Cordón, head boss of Hope Group, an organisation of football clubs including Granada, Parma, Chongqing Lifan themselves and Sunfun, spoke of the signing of the Spanish technician in a statement.
"Jordi is a very experienced person, who has done a fantastic job in recent years at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
"For both Chongqing Lifan and Hope Group, he is a valuable asset who we are convinced will help us continue growing," he added.
