Jesus spent three months on the sidelines before recovering in time for the final weeks of Arsenal's failed bid to win the Premier League.
Having been absent for Emirates Cup friendly against Monaco, Jesus will miss the start of the new season. But Gunners boss Arteta is hopeful Jesus will play a major part in his side's title challenge.
"We had to do a little procedure there but unfortunately it was the best thing to do and the quicker the better. We made that decision. I'm sure he will be back soon and very fit," he told reporters.
Nevertheless, several football stars are at odds with the Spanish manager. Manchester City legend Micah Richards gave an interview to the 'BBC' and said the Gunners have missed their chance to lift the English trophy because of the Brazilian's injury.
"I was close to picking Arsenal to win the title this season, because no team has ever won it four years in a row. But, they are without Gabriel Jesus at the start of the season and I think that is just going to kill them," he claimed.
