Marco Silva's side sit in fourth place after their opening four fixtures and are two points behind the top two sides, Manchester United and Manchester City, following a comfortable 2-0 victory away at Southampton on Saturday.
Watford, who are unbeaten in their opening four top-flight fixtures for the first time in the history, will come up against Pep Guardiola's side at Vicarage Road on Saturday and Janmat does not think his team-mates will suffer an inferiority complex when they meet the title-chasing City side.
"We're unbeaten with eight points from four games so it's a fantastic start to the season," Janmaat told the club's official website.
"We have got to continue like this and on Saturday we have Manchester City at home and a great opportunity to try to stay up with them.
"We are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment. We have a good team, some good signings, a lot of strength in the team and pace up front.
"I think we can threaten a lot of teams with the way we are playing and we can have a great season."
Marco Silva also believes there is more to come from his Watford side with the upcoming return of influential players like Argentinian playmaker Roberto Pereyra and he is just seeing the start of their potential.
"The players know our idea and our philosophy," Silva said. "They know how we want to work every day. Anything is possible if we play like we did today, but they know we can only achieve something if we work hard.
"We need to play without fear and respect every opponent but [so far] it's a pleasure for me to see. It's been a very good start, but really, this is just the beginning."
