There is the feeling that Barcelona's board are fully behind Xavi. It is a difficult time for him after being knocked out of the Champions League group stages for the second season in a row, but they will look to end their campaign with three points against Viktoria Plzen. Barca's big wigs will be in Plzen for the clash.
One of those is sporting vice-president Rafa Yuste. He spoke to the media just outside the Vienna House Easy, the team hotel. "It's a match in which we must have the dignity to compete and win because we're Barca. It's disappointing to get knocked out of the Champions League because we always aspire to winning everything, but that does not stop us from fighting to give the fans the titles they deserve," he said.
"Xavi has our full backing. I take on board the comments and opinions of the board. Xavi is a coach whose from Barca, he knows what he has to do, that he is fighting with a team who are in the rebuilding process. We have all hopes pinned on Xavi," he also said.
"He's a coach we want and he as a squad which, gradually, he's going to build and I'm convinced that he's going to give us the trophies the fans want and deserve," Yuste added. Xavi has been backed and can still fight to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League this season.
