Istanbul Basaksehir wants Slimani to stay in Turkey

Istanbul Basaksehir are interested in starting talks with Slimani, but the striker would prefer to stay in the Premier League, according to 'TMW'. The striker has not struggled in Turkey, having played 25 games and scored five goals.

The Algerian joined Leicester in the 2016-17 season from Portugal's Sporting. He had his chance with the club, playing 46 games and scoring 13 goals, but ended up on loan at Newcastle. With the 'magpies', he only played four games.

Slimani trained at Belouizdad in the Algerian League. At the age of 24, he caught the eye of Portugal's Sporting Lisbon, where he played for almost four seasons. His football break came in 2015-16, when he made 46 appearances for the Portuguese club and scored 31 goals.

Istanbul Basaksehir came ahead of Fenerbahce in the table. They will play the Champions League qualifier after taking second place. Leicester ended up failing to reach the Europa League places, so Slimani could be seduced by the Turkish option.
