Using stats from 'Whoscored.com' we evaluate England's XI stand-out performers so far this season.
GK - Nick Pope (Burnley)
Pope has stepped in after Tom Heaton's shoulder injury and has impressed. His save success rate of 87.2% is the best in the Premier League, whilst he also boasts three clean sheets in six starts.
RB - Kieran Trippier (Tottenham)
Trippier edges out former team-mate Kyle Walker after rregistering four assists so far this season, of which Harry Kane has been the beneficiary of every single one.
CB - Phil Jones (Man Utd)
Jones has returned to his best under Jose Mourinho this year, starting all 10 of United's Premier League games so far and recording a 92.3% pass success rate in the process.
CB - Ben Mee (Burnley)
Mee has impressed following Michael Keane's departure in the summer, making the third most clearances in Europe's top five leagues with 86, as well as blocking more shots than any other player in the Premier League this season (18).
LB - Ashley Young (Man Utd)
Young was a shock inclusion in Southgate's squad on Thursday but according to the stats he is a worthy inclusion.
CM - Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Crystal Palace)
The young midfielder has struggles to impress in a poor Palace side but his tally of 4.2 successful dribbles per 90 minutes is the best of any Premier League player this season.
CM - Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)
Much-maligned, but according to the stats Henderson's ball retention is impressive. The Mackem midfielder has averaged the fifth most passes per game in the Premier League so far this season (80.6)
RW - Raheem Sterling (Man City)
The reborn winger already has seven goals and two assists to his name in the Premier League so far this season, meaning that he contributes to a goal every 56.2 minutes he is on the pitch.
CAM - Dele Alli (Tottenham)
Despite a steady start to the season, Alli's three league goals and one assist are enough to secure his place. The 21-year-old has also made the third most key passes from open play in the Permier League so far this season (19).
LW - Marcus Rashford (Man Utd)
Now seemingly above Annthony Martial in the pecking order, Rashford has directly contributed to six goals in ten league games so far this season with three goals and as many assists.
ST - Harry Kane (Tottenham)
The Premier League's top scorer obviously makes the cut, with Kane having managed eight goals from just nine games so far this season.
