Injury-hit Arsenal lose Ben White until 2025

It seems as though Mikel Arteta's prayers have not been answered. "I am just going to pray that after the international break, I have all my players available," were the Arsenal boss' words after the draw at Chelsea, however, he will not be happy to hear that his "absolute nightmare" is not over, as Ben White has just handed the Gunners a fresh injury blow. 

The defender has sustained a surgical procedure on his knee, as confirmed by 'Sky Sports News' on Wednesday. Although White started in Arsenal's last two games, it appears the player had been carrying a minor knee problem throughout recent months. It was decided that the international break represents the opportunity to resolve the issue, while also reducing the amount of missed game time.

Following his successful surgery, White is set to face eight weeks on the sidelines, expecting to return in 2025. As a result, he joins the list of unavailable players alongside Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jurrien Timber. Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka could also be added to the long list of injuries. The pair were forced off the pitch early during Sunday’s 1-1 draw against the Blues and subsequently pulled out of the England squad.

Arsenal's bad luck continues, with skipper Odegaard's return being the sole source of positive news for Arteta recently. The midfielder has decided not to travel with Norway for the upcoming Nations League games as a means to complete his rehabilitation process during the break.
