Iniesta is my role model, says Barcelona youngster Samper

Sergi Samper has renewed his contract with Barcelona. The youngster revealed in an interview who his role model is: Andres Iniesta. He admitted that he learnt a lot from his team-mate.

The youngster has been compared with Xavi, due to his playing style- a big honour for the teenager. 

Samper joined the club in 2001 at the age of six. He was during three seasons the captain of Barcelona B team. The release fee for 21-year-old Samper is €50 million.

"I'm a big fan of Iniesta", said Samper.

"He's a role model for me and I've learnt a lot from him in the last couple of years.

"I can play in any position in midfield. Last season I also played as an inside forward so I'll play wherever I'm picked.

"I've had offers but my first choice was always to remain with Barcelona,” he added. “Of course there is a lot of competition but it's my first season here so I'm really excited".
