Ilaix all over again? Koeman leaves out Balde at last minute

Ilaix has become more well known because he is an academy player with lots of quality, but he is struggling to renew his contract. Now, Alejandro Balde is in a similar situation. Ronald Koeman was counting on him training with the first team in pre-season, but in the end, he ruled him out. 'Mundo Deportivo' gave more details.

The newspaper says that the youngster has a contract until 2022 with the option to extend it for another two years. This possible extension is the main reason why Joan Laporta's board are calm as he has certain margin to work and focus on more important deals like the return of Lionel Messi. 

The young left-back had a great season with the B team last term. That is why he is among the clear candidates to fight for an opportunity in La Liga. He was also included in the squads for several matches for Spain's age group teams. 

Barcelona will have to pay special attention to how Balde reacts to being left out of Ronald Koeman's plans at the last minute. Like all players who come through La Masia, he wants to make it into the first team and he could well do so sometime next term.
