'The Telegraph' reports that United's plan was to get Joshua King. United went for him and Bournemouth turned down the offer. The player did not want to move either.
Manchester United had to look for an alternative and so they signed Odion Ighalo. A decision which the board had to make as time was running out. If their offer for King had been accepted then Ighalo would not be a Man Utd player.
Eddie Howe thinks that King is a vital player in their fight for survival. The Cherries are just two points above the relegation zone and they did not want to lose him despite the fact he has only scored three goals this term.
The footballer was with Solskjaer in the Manchester United youth teams and Solskjaer tried to use that to his advantage to sign him. He was not successful on this occasion though.
