Kevin De Bruyne's brilliant drive earned Manchester City a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid in a gripping Champions League semi-final first leg battle on Tuesday.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand spoke to 'BT Sport' after the showdown to discuss his expectations for the second leg at the Etihad Stadium: "If you give Madrid the ball they will demolish you, City have got the personality and the character. The horror show of last year will be in their minds.
"But Real will not be going there [to the Etihad] with any fear. They will be bouncing into that stadium with swagger. They have the same amount of Champions League titles as all of the English teams added together. They own this competition," he added.
"They know how to navigate every moment in these games because they're so used to it. You’re playing against so much history. However, this City team you've got to hold them up and say they came here and the way they performed in terms of character, taking on the ball, the bravery."
Moreover, the former defender was asked what the decider at the Etihad Stadium will be like and he said: "This would be the final. You'd love to have this game as the final. One team who is an institution in this competition with 14 European Cups and one team that really want to get on the mark," he concluded.
