"If I were Italian, I'd ask myself why €15 million are being spent on Carles Perez"

Carles Perez made a move from Barcelona to Roma in one of this year's unexpected winter window transfers. After making his debut with Valverde and even settling in the first team at times, Setién decided he had no place for him in the squad, which is why the player set his sights on other options and ended up in Italy. 

Joan Collet, former president of the Board of Directors of Espanyol, was quite surprised by his departure. Not so much for the departure itself, but for what Rome paid for the Barça academy product. 

"If I were Italian I would ask myself how Roma can spend 15 million on Carles Pérez when he has barely played in the First Division," said the former club president to 'RAC1'.

Collet blamed it on inflation and television rights, which have caused the market to explode.

In addition, the former Espanyol board member said he understood Peter Lim's reason for wanting to prioritize the Champions League over the Copa del Rey title.

"When in La Liga a consensus has been reached to distribute the benefits better, in the Champions League the one who reaches the quarterfinals gets 70 million. How can Peter Lim not prioritize the Champions over the Cup in Valencia," Collet concluded in a controversial statement.
