Icardi's terrible year culminates in terrible penalty

Mauro Icardi had a clear opportunity to create a comfortable distance between Inter Milan and gutsy Empoli, as his side are in tough competition for a Champions League qualifying spot.

Inter took the lead in the scoreboard through Keita Balde but the match had to be finished off.

The task was left to Icardi, who has had a tumultuous campaign to say the least. The penalty itself was dubious, inciting the referee to consult VAR before awarding Inter the goalscoring opportunity.

And so, Icardi, with an unconvincing run, attempted to better the scoreline. But Dragowski had readied himself well and was prepared for the block. No goal.
