Ibrahimovic and Pogba shine as United stop the rot

Mourinho's men recorded their first win in four Premier League games largely thanks the high-profile pair.

United blew Swansea away in the first half, before sitting back and holding out in the second 45 minutes.

United started strongly and Rooney almost had his second in as many games in the early stages of the game, but the Red Devils skipper fired a curled effort just wide.

The Red Devils didn't have to wait long to open the scoring, however, as Paul Pogba scored with a wonderful volleyed effort. Rooney played a lofted ball to Ibrahimovic on 15 minutes which was headed away by the Swansea defence. The ball sat up for Pogba just outside of the box and rifled it into the top corner with the sweetest of strikes.

Fellaini almost made it 2-0 when he fired just wide from Darmian's cross from the left, before Ibrahimovic had his first of the afternoon which was also the 25,000th Premier League goal. Rooney cut inside from the left and passed to Ibrahimovic who fired in a low effort from around 25 yards.

The Swede then had his second goal of the afternoon when he went through on goal and smashed past Fabianski with his left foot.

After a bright first half, Manchester United sat back and consolidated on their 3-0 lead, meaning the second half was rather flat. Bob Bradley brought on Barrow and Montero for the Swans who made a positive impact.

The Welsh side did manage to pull a goal back when Van der Hoorn headed in from a Sigurdsson free-kick and Swansea could have set up an interesting finish, but Barrow couldn't connect with his volley when he was left unmarked at the back post.

United held out for the three points which will be an obvious relief for Mourinho, but perhaps the most pleasing factor would be that his biggest stars - Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Rooney - were all excellent on the day and appear to have hit form at the same time.

As for Swansea, it's hard not to feel pessimistic. Bradley has enjoyed no sort of honeymoon period whatsoever, picking up one point from four games and it will not help his worries that Sunderland and Hull both won this weekend.
