Manchester United produced a convincing display for their manager, Jose Mourinho, who was banned from the touchline following his sending off against West Ham in the league fixture on Sunday.
The Red Devils got off to a quick start when Zlatan Ibrahimovic clipped in the opener past Adrian in the West Ham goal in just the second minute.
West Ham did get back into the game, however, when former United youngster Ashley Fletcher pounced after David De Gea parried Dimitri Payet's effort straight into his path.
United re-took the lead just after half-time when he fired into the bottom corner upon receiving a pass from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Martial then had his second when he converted from Antonio Valencia's cross just after the hour mark.
Before United's fourth and final goal, Manchester United were treated with the pleasure of seeing Bastian Schweinsteiger in action for the first time since March, after initially being frozen out by Mourinho. The German was greeted with great cheers every time he touched the ball and almost got on the scoresheet, but fired his effort wide.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic then sealed the victory with a close-range finish with virtually the last kick of the game, to comfortably see United through to the semi-finals of the competition.
