Iago Aspas renews with Celta

The announcement that Celta fans were so eager to hear has arrived. Iago Aspas has renewed his contract with Celta, where he will remain captain until 2025.

Aspas wants to retire at Balaidos and, at almost 35, the four-time Zarra Trophy winner has extended his contract to lead Coudet's side for three more seasons.

He made his debut with the Celta first team in June 2008, and a year later he scored a historic brace against Deportivo Alaves in Balaidos that meant mathematical stay in the Segunda.

From then on, he became the most important player in Celta's history, ahead of his idol, the Russian Aleksandr Mostovoi.

418 games, 184 goals and 63 assists. He had spells at Liverpool and Sevilla, but his performances never reached even half the level of his outstanding performances at Celta, where he is an absolute idol.

"Long live the King," Celta posted on their social media, in a special statement on Galicia Day. Aspas will continue to lead the team of his life.
