Midfielder Oriol Romeu swapped Girona for Barcelona as soon as the Blaugranas came knocking on his door and the player explained on ‘3Cat’ how he experienced the move. "When you make a decision you make it with what you have on the table. I would probably make the same decision if it happened again."
"Barca come to you with an offer on the table and they tell you that you will be very important? Then you learn if it goes one way or another, but at that moment it's what you have", he commented.
His time as a ‘Cule’ hasn't exactly been easy, at least so far, in fact, he has come to ask himself many questions: "I've rethought many times if I'm really capable, but yes. When I was on the bench, I tried to put myself inside mentally for when Xavi told me to come on.
"On the pitch, the adrenaline is higher. If I lost a game, I couldn't sleep. It's different being on the bench than on the grass,’ he added.
When he arrived at Barcelona, many compared him to Busquets, a comparison that weighed too heavily on him: "I value a lot what he did, but I didn't come with the intention of replacing him. I demanded more of myself than what they said."
He admitted that he would have liked things to have gone differently for him. "On the physical side, it's not what I would have liked, nor on the mental side, because of mistakes or individual performances. I've overthought a little bit and I've given my head too much thought," he said.
As for the future, he said that he doesn't know where he sees himself, but he is sure that with a ball at his feet: "When I was 27 I thought that at 32 or 33 I would retire, but it is true that now I have found routines that have helped me a lot and I hope to last much longer".
