'I've been there' - Gerrard sympathises with Ulreich after slip

It was a night to forget for Sven Ulreich. Added to the fact that his side missed out on a place in the final of the biggest club competition in world football, he will feel that he is partially responsable for Bayern's disappointment.
The blame cannot all be pinned on the keeper, and his teammates have quickly come out to absolve him, but it will be hard for the German to not feel guilt. In the 46th minute, the Bayern keeper rushed out to clear a backpass, before slipping, then realising that he couldn't handle the ball. His error left Karim Benzema with an open goal, and the Frenchman needed no more invitation, sending Real 2-1 up.
Bayern equalised, but it wasn't enough, and they left Madrid with heartbreak, losing 4-3 on aggregate. Speaking after the game, pundit Steven Gerrard felt Ulreich's pain. The former English international made a similar error that dinted Liverpool's chances of a league title back in 2013/14, slipping in a game against Chelsea and allowing Demba Ba through on goal.
The mistake has haunted Gerrard ever since, and he expressed his sympathy for Ulreich in his post-match analysis on 'BT Sport'. "I've been there when you lose your footing at a vital moment, it's a cruel way to lose a football match," the Liverpool legend stated.
He also feels that first choice keeper Manuel Neuer wouldn't have made that error. "Neuer hammers that 70, 80 yards down field," he said. Neuer has been a rock for Bayern for years, but has missed the vast majority of the season through injury.
