"I should have had five or six!" - Palmer on his iconic milestone

Cole Palmer spoke following Chelsea's 4-2 win against Brighton on Saturday. The Englishman lit up Stamford Bridge, with a timeless individual display, scoring four first-half goals for the Blues and becoming the first player ever to do so in the Premier League. 

“I should have had five or six!" said the 22-year-old on his iconic milestone. “When I missed the first chance I was upset, but with the way they played and their high line I felt we would get more chances," he further explained.

Enzo Maresca also gave his take on Palmer's four goals against Brighton, applauding the player for his impact on the team. "He scored four, but he could have scored two, three more," joked the Italian head coach to 'BBC Sport'. "It’s good that he continues to be hungry, ambitious".

The Chelsea boss also talked about the growth of the number 20 from his time at Man City. "I know Cole from many years ago, I had him for one entire season with the under-23s at Manchester City. The best thing he has is that in the way he is today as a boy, he was three or four years ago. So goals, assists, best player of the Premier League — this doesn’t change who he is," he revealed. “He is a top player. Today in football, young players change very quickly. They score one goal and think they are already (a star). Cole scored many goals, many assists, he’s a top player but he never changes, and that is the most important thing," he concluded.
