The French genius ended his illustrious career after the shocking incident, though he had already decided to step down from the national team following the tournament in Germany.
In an interview on a program that celebrates his career and broadcast by Telefoot, Zidane spoke about the incident against Italy.
'I did not feel proud', said the current Real Madrid manager. 'I am not proud of this gesture. of all these young people, all these coaches, all those volunteers who make football a different thing, but it is part of my career, my life, it is one of those things that are not pleasant, we must accept, that we must digest', he added.

The 45-year-old former France captain can be seen crying in the interview as he is shown a clip of his father talking about the love he has for his son.
'I am not ashamed to tell him I love him, the grand children, too. When I phone them I tell them "I love you", I said it before, I say it now, and I’ll say it again', his father said.
