Although he has already played 2 matches, Roma presented Carles Pérez on Wednesday as a new player. The forward arrived in the last few days of the window on loan from Barca with a compulsory purchase option.
During the event, the Barca youth was confident of the step taken and denied that it was a change for the worse. "I come from a great club, but Roma doesn't seem to me to be a step backwards, far from it. I think it's a bigger step, to get out of my comfort zone and show what I'm worth", he said.
"If I decided to come here, it's because I want to grow. I've signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and I'll do my best for my club, Barcelona is the past and Roma is my present. For me, it's not a step backwards", Carles Pérez added who insisted on the challenge he has ahead.
"Changing country and culture is an important challenge. No one gifts anything, I can't claim to be a starter right away, I have to prove that I can be one", he said.
The forward explained why he chose Roma: "I decided because the manager called me (the Portuguese Paulo Fonseca), because of how he spoke to me, because of the confidence he gave me that I could do something important here. I know I'm coming from an important team, but I'm coming to an important team".
Finally, Carles Pérez took notice of the footballing differences in Serie A: "Fonseca warned me before signing that they press more here than La Liga. In my first match, I realised how aggressive they are in Italy. In the 2nd one, I found myself much more comfortable".
