Hugo Duro consoles Ter Stegen after the goalkeeper's blunder

It is not at all common in professional sport, least of all in football, that after scoring a goal you think of your opponent. Not out of anger, but to console what was an obvious mistake. That happened this Monday at Montjuic in the match between Barcelona and Valencia.

Ter Stegen, one of the best players in Europe, made a mistake on a run out of the box and gave the ball away to Hugo Duro, who slotted home to make it a temporary 1-1 draw. After celebrating the goal with his teammates, the 'Ches' striker went over to console the German.

After the match, Hugo Duro was asked about the gesture: "I don't know how long it's been since Ter Stegen missed with his feet, but I know how it feels. I'm coming from a very bad year in which nothing is going right".

"It's not necessary either. Then he didn't miss any more, which is normal. We're people, we're professionals, we're team-mates and I think Ter Stegen is a great guy, he's never involved in any controversy, he's always humble. I would like them to do it to me and I have done it,’ he said on 'DAZN'.
