Russia will have to do without the services of their key midfielder Alan Dzagoev at the Euros this summer, after the player broke his metatarsal at the weekend.
Dzagoev sustained the injury playing for Russian champions CSKA Moscow in their 1-0 win against Rubin Kazan at the weekend, where he got the only goal which was enough for the club win their sixth Russian Premier League title.
A statement from the Russian Football Union said: "The player has undergone the medical examination which confirmed the fracture of the second instep bone. The injury does not let Dzagoev take part in the Euro 2016."
As a result of his exclusion from the team, Russia head coach Leonid Slutskiy has brought in Krasnodar's Dmitri Torbinski into the 23-man squad.
