In a match that Everton had little to play for, and Huddersfield were hoping to secure their top-flight status, both took a few moments to settle into the opening stages of the fixture.
Once the clash got underway, the 'Terriers' matched if not surpassed Everton on pace and tempo, and they piled the pressure onto the visitors.
The first half was a game of end-to-end, with both sides almost exactly matched on possession. However, neither managed to really threaten in front of the goal and the first half looked set for a goalless draw.
A moment of brilliance from Walcott just six minutes before the break, saw him make a solo break before deciding to unselfishly unload to Tosun putting Everton ahead 1-0 heading into half-time.
The second half was again a battle for the upper hand, and it seemed as though the visitor's first-half goal had gotten into Huddersfield's psyche, with their confidence dropping.
The final nail in the coffin came at the 78th minute when a beautiful set-up from Baines, allowed Gueye to double Everton's lead and the 'Terriers' were just unable to launch a last-minute counter attack.
The result leaves Everton edging closer to a seventh-spot finish, but Huddersfield will face a tough end to their campaign, with their remaining three fixtures against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
