"He will NOT leave in January" - Lille president on Barca target Jonathan David

Lille are having an incredible start to the season that has seen them defeat Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in the Champions League, matches in which Jonathan David was on target and key to his side's victories.

The Canadian striker has been the undisputed leader of the French side, having registered 13 goals and two assists in 19 official appearances for the Ligue 1 club. The former Gent striker's incredible form has put him on the radar of Europe's top clubs.

Barcelona have been one of the clubs most interested in the Canada international, who also has a contract expiring with the club in the summer of 2025, making him a more than affordable option for the Catalan side as they would sign him as a free agent.

However, it seems that Lille will do everything in their power to keep David at the club, according to recent words from president Letang: "Jonathan David will not leave in January. We made new contract proposal and it’s up to Jonathan now."
