Slovakia defender David Hancko spoke at a press conference about Atletico Madrid's alleged interest in signing him and said that when he heard the news, it served to motivate him with the aim that one day, in the future, it could be confirmed.
"When news like this comes out, I use it as motivation and confirm it with my performances on the pitch, because maybe there are more people looking at me. But in any case, my main motivation is to give my best on the pitch and help the team as much as possible," explained the Feyenoord player.
Hancko also spoke about their next opponents, Ukraine, who lost 3-0 to Romania in their opening match, and empathised with the plight of his players, whose country is at war with Russia's invasion two and a half years ago: "They are in a difficult situation. Of course we have a lot of sympathy for them and wish them well," he said.
He also recalled when he travelled with Feyenoord to Ukraine last season in the Europa League to face Shakhtar Donetsk: "We played against them and already then the situation was not good. We have a lot of sympathy for Ukraine and we hope that everything goes well and gets sorted out," he said.
