Gudmundsson gave Burnley the lead

Up until the opening goal, the game had been a drab affair. Both these sides are expected to be down the lower end of the table, and securing a point before going for all three was the order of the day. 

However, with 51 minutes on the clock, Burnley broke the deadlock in typical fashion - the ball being bundled over the line. 

Ashley Westwood put a high ball into the the back post, and the Iceland international was on hand to plant a header into the ground, getting the jump on his defender on the way up. 

Neil Etheridge in goal could do nothing as the ball crossed the line, sparking celebrations in one end of the Cardiff City Stadium.
