Gerrard full of praise for Modric and Benzema

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard said the Reds were "dominated" by Real Madrid and that the Spanish club "were a level above" the English side.

"It was a reality check", Gerrard said to 'BT Sport'. "Liverpool started perfectly, they went 2-0 up, exactly what you need on a European night, but from then on Real Madrid came back into the game, they scored quickly and from then on they dominated and got the better of Liverpool".

"At any club, if you concede five goals, there's got to be questions as to why and how. I'm sure Klopp will do that in the coming days. Liverpool don't concede five goals, it's very rare".

"Sometimes in football you've just got to lift your hands up and admit that the other side were better, that they were above you and they dominated you. They were better in both boxes. We've witnessed Modric and Benzema's greatness", the Englishman admitted.
