Galatasaray sign Lucas Torreira and finalise Mertens deal

Galatasaray are looking to put together a strong squad for this season, having already completed the signing of Lucas Torreira, the Turkish club have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Dries Mertens, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

Negotiations for Mertens are at an advanced stage. The Belgian would sign a one-year contract plus an optional one with Galatasaray. In addition, the player would receive an annual salary of around three million euros.

Meanwhile, Lucas Torreira is said to be a done deal. The player would arrive in exchange for a fee of around five or six million euros from Arsenal. The Uruguayan would sign a contract for the next four seasons.

These two additions bring Galatasaray's total number of signings to nine so far this season, eight of them on transfer or loan with an option to buy. Torreira and Mertens will add quality to the squad and increase the level of the Turkish League.
