Besiktas and Galatasaray closed the 28th round of the Turkish League with a huge showdown. The final result was 0-1 in favour of the 'Lions', which allows them to continue to lead the standings ahead of Fenerbahce. But that wasn't the only news from the match, as it brought with it a lot of controversy.
The visitors used their social media to mock the home side. They did so with an 18'' video showing a sad eagle (Besiktas' symbol) swinging on a swing and losing its feathers. Club president Hasan Afat asked Galatasaray directors about this: "What is this disgrace? Don't test our patience. You will pay a high price." There was tension in the VIP box between the leaders of the two sides.
The match was not without its controversy. The Black Eagles claimed a foul before the goal, a penalty and were reduced to ten men in the final minutes. The Lions, for their part, also claimed two penalties: one for a possible handball and the other after Icardi was brought down in the box.
The controversy even reached the other Istanbul team and the visitors' biggest rivals, Fenerbahce, whose coach shared a post after the derby. The message read: "We will do our thing.... Of course!" The refereeing performance did not go down well with the club who are locked in a battle for the Turkish championship title.
