Gabi forced to swallow his words after calling the Europa League sh*t

Atletico were crowned Europa League champions following their 3-0 win over Marseille at the Stade de Lyon, with Gabi getting the third of the night late on.

However, he wasn't always enthused about the prospect of playing in the competition. "Right now, I would tell you that the Europa League is sh*t," he raged after Atleti dropped out of the Champions League.

When the full-time whistle went in Lyon though, the Atletico skipper admitted the error of his ways in an interview with 'beINSports'.

"Now, I have to swallow my words about the Europa League. This cup has given us a lot," he admitted.

Meanwhile, Gabi had only glowing words for the departing Fernando Torres. "Torres deserves this more than anyone, there no better way of bidding farewell to Atleti," he explained.

Finally, the midfielder ended by discussing Man of the Match Antoine Griezmann. "He showed that he is focused on Atleti. I hope he stays with us next season," he concluded.
