Gabbiadini poked home a huge goal for Saints' survival hopes

It was a Premier League match that pitted 17th against 18th respectively in their penultimate game of the season. Both teams had the same points but Southampton edged ahead thanks to a superior goal difference.

72 minutes passed by in what was a cagey encounter until the deadlock was finally broken. 

An inswinging corner provoked mayhem in the Swansea box, allowing Charlie Austin to fire a volley on goal from six yards.

Opposing goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski did well to block the effort but Gabbiadini was there to steer the rebound into an empty net.

The goal means Southampton would go three points ahead of Swansea with just one game remaining and would seal the fate of West Brom, sending them down to the Championship.
