Former striker Miroslav Klose, one of the legends of German and world football, has become the new coach of German second division side Nurnberg.
Klose, the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history, who played for Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and Lazio during his career, and a World Cup winner at Brazil 2014, began his coaching career in 2016 as assistant coach of the German national team.
In 2018, he coached Bayern Munich's youth team and was subsequently assistant to Hansi Flick in the Bavarian club's most successful campaign. In June 2022, he became the first coach of Austrian club Altach and was sacked in March 2023.
"Tradition, passion, honest work, great fans - these are all things I love about football and associate with Nürnberg. That's why I immediately seized this opportunity. The club has a great foundation with its youth work that we want to build on," Klose said.
